Our family has been talking about a food blog for about a year now.  There are five of us, two adults, one teen, and twin pre-teens.  We all love food, love to talk about food, and enjoy writing, but each of us has a different relationship to food.  So, welcome to our family – we hope our adventures in eating will entertain you all!

Our daughter, one of the twin preteens, has a reputation for pickiness.  She has been called a “food separatist,” a “Plain Jane,” (no sauces please) or just plain difficult…The boys, on the other hand, think of themselves as classic omnivores.  Upon reflection, however, the boys each have their own particularities that can impose challenges upon dining.  Our twin son generally hates fruit, berries in particular, but eats everything else.  The eldest eats nearly everything…except most seafood.  Vist entries tagged as “Notes from Picky Eaters” to get their perspective on food.

Dad is the original omnivore and king of sauces.  He gardens, always wants to try something new, prepares amazing pies (crusts to die for, we all agree), and wishes that BBQ pork and cheese could be eaten in unlimited quantities.

And, there is me. I grew up with limited cooking experience, married the man described above because he could cook circles around me, but has come to enjoy the challenge of preparing meals that we all love after a full day of work.  I love to read cookbooks, and other food related books, and will share my favorites.  Finally, as most moms I know, I also try to figure out how to get the freshest food available onto our table and not break the bank in the meantime.  So, we’re trying a CSA for the second time, are trying to eat more meatless meals, and I rely on coupons to save at the grocery store.

We can’t wait to hear from our readers.  Here’s to eating well!

  3. Your blog is interesting. I am a mom to a toddler, who is very toddler-like and picky about most things. I am doing my best though to raise him with a diverse love a food and the knowledge to know how to cook it (when he gets a little older of course!). Look forward to reading more about your food adventures with your family.

    • Thanks! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Keep on exposing your toddler to lots of variety. Every kid is different, and our Picky Eater’s palate continues to expand (although more slowly than we’d like :))!

I’m looking forward to visiting your blog too!
